Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease in
which the body’s ability to produce or respond to the hormone insulin is impaired, resulting  in abnormal metabolism of carbohydrates and  
is no longer a dreaded disease; a well managed diabetic has a good life expectancy . Th is can be due to failure in the  formation of insulin or liberation or action. And also called malabsorption disease.

For any kind of disease first we should work on its primary cause then should balance with diet which is most important and the primary cause of this disease are 
Heredity, age sex, obesity, stress , nutritional factors and infection.

 Signs and Symptoms -

Polyuria, polydipsia, polyphagia, genral -weakness, dehydration, rapid weight loss, sleepiness, blur eyes( in cronic stage), fatigue etc. 

Diagnosis of Diabetes 

• Fasting Plasma Glucose (FPG) Test
•Oral Glucose Tolerance (OGT) Test
•Glycosylated Hemoglobin /Hemoglobin  A1c’ Test
•Finger Stick Blood Glucose Test or Random Plasma Glucose (RPG) Test



•After diagnosis test well designed meal plan is an important cornerstone in the management of diabetes mellitus. 

We plan diet so that  -

•Achieve physiologic blood glucose levels.

•Maintain desirable plasma lipid levels.

Reduce complications of diabetes  mellitus. 

•Attain and maintain desirable body

weight. 

•Meet energy needs in a timely manner.

• Individualize to preferences and food

available.

•Simple sugars (glucose, honey, syrup)

•Skimmed and butter milk

Take fibre in good manner-

Should take  100% whole wheat and whole grains 

Feast on low sugar fruits instead of fruit juices.

Boost your breakfast with with mix high fibre. 

cereals. 

Eat fruit and vegetables along with its skin 

as possible after well wash. 


Tips to avoid Diabetes complications

•Choose carbohydrates carefully ( use 

complex carbohydrate and artificial 

sweeteners.) 

•Loose weight if you need to.

•Be active.

•Get enough sleep.

•Monitor blood sugar regularly.

•Manage stress.

•Say no to salt. 

•Avoid smoking and alcohol.

•Maintain the blood pressure and blood

cholesterol levels.


         Home remedies 


These following foods are suggested to reduce the blood sugar levels and complications of diabetes -


Fenugreek -    roast fenugreek till golden brown make it powder form use it in morning with milk, plain water, fruit or sugar juices, or yogurt. 


•Jamun fruit - make jamun seeds powder use it one spoon morning and  evening with plain water

•Green leafy vegetables- very rich in nutrients like vitamins and  minerals and lot of fiber which is easily available everywhere so u should include this in diabetes patients meal. 


•Sprouts- in India everyone using sprouts at morning which have enough vitamin B complex and vitamin c, minerals and fiber etc. 

•Curry leaves/ kari patta - reduce blood sugar levels it is anti cholesterol, maintenance the gastrointestinal  health too. 

•Cinnamon ( daal chinee)- it  helps in digestion, and anti diabetic. Take a spoon of cinnamon powder boil it in hot water till colour change now use this kadha as drink which helps in weight loss, control blood sugar levels and also reduces belly fats.
